My SO teaches the motorcycle safety course so I got my license. Didn't plan to ride very much. Bought a used Yamaha 250 exciter to practice on. One month later felt confident enough to move up to a bigger bike. SO kept looking for bikes for me and I didn't like the "feel" of any of them. Decided to go bike hunting on my day off. Went to dealers trying to figure out what kind of bike I liked so my SO would know when he was looking for used bikes. Dealer said he had the perfect bike for me. Started to walk to the "new" bike area. Told him I couldn't afford a new bike. He said to come anyway just to look at it. Fell in love with the look. Climbed on the bike. Fell in lust with the bike. Drove home. Called SO. Told him what I wanted. He found one few hours from home. Guy needed the money. Bought my 1997 Savage with 260 miles on it for $2800. Love the way it handles, takes curves. Toyed with the idea of trading to a bigger bike, decided that I love the Savage and decided to customize it. Dropped it off yesterday at the body shop (Was like dropping the kids of at day care the first day) Felt a little strange that it won't be in my garage. It sensed it also. Wouldn't start. Had to clean the spark plug before we could take it over. Took pictures so I can show before and after pictures. It will be a single passenger, drag bars with 6" risers, mini rubber chrome grips, bullet turn signals and a awesome horn! It will alo be painted silver/gray with a hint of purple and an elongated double S painted on the side (Suzuki Savage). Saw the design on a HD and thought it looked like an S and would look great on the Savage. The S will be in several colors. This will be better than Xmas. Suppose to be ready in about a month. Then the seat will be recovered to hide the opening in the back where the passenger seat bolts under and will be recovered in one solid piece of leater. Oh yeah, new fender rails from a 1995 Kawsaki Vulcan 1500A.
That should do it until I go to Daytona for bike week and get my new mirrors and saddlebags.
